In this article, the importance of deep self-reflection and understanding is highlighted to establish stronger connections and drive better business results. It emphasizes how toxicity in the workplace can hinder success and proposes using assessments as a valuable tool to gain insights into assumptions, limiting beliefs, and blind spots, ultimately improving leadership, sales, teamwork, and communication. The article cautions against treating assessments as a checkbox activity, and suggests focusing on areas such as communications, culture, and employee engagement. It concludes by recommending a comprehensive approach, leveraging multiple assessment tools and implementing a system to drive lasting behavior change.
Today I’d like to talk about learning more about yourself to bring about deeper connections and greater business results.
Gary Vaynerchuck has a video out there about how toxicity is a business killer. The more you allow – mediocrity, bad behavior, poor communication – the slower your business is to achieving success.
It’s time to pay attention to your people on a much deeper level. It’s time to look into your own blind spots and lean into growth. It’s time to address anyone in your sphere who is a vampire of energy and peace.
One way to approach this challenge is to consider assessments. I have taken many assessments in my career and I continue to take them to learn more about myself and better interact with others in my world.
Assessments help us with assumptions and limiting beliefs of others as well as show us where we STILL have blindspots. They help us become a better leader, salesperson, team member, partner, parent, communicator, influencer….Basically, if you are a person who interacts with other people….ASSESSMENTS ARE HELPFUL.
The impact of assessments depends on what you do with the knowledge and how you integrate it. Many individuals and companies bring in specialists to do assessments but…
They see it as a check the box activity
They don’t know how to integrate the learnings into their organizations
They aren’t ready and willing to do the deep work
If you company has the following components that impact your business…
Communications
Mindset
Culture
Leader Efficacy
Employee Engagement
Team Cohesion
Conflict Management
Performance
Then assessments are a great option to help address these areas that impact your company’s outcomes.
Of course, I recommend doing more than just one program as there really isn’t a single program that covers everything. Then once you decide on which tool or tools could work for your company, it’s time to build a system. The system needs to define, reinforces and celebrate the behavior changes that are taking place because of the increased awareness, knowledge and skills.
Don’t forget, it takes longer than expected to make changes that stick. Think about your gym habits, your eating habits, your self talk…..how long would it take you to really change the way you operate? Now think about a group of people and how long it would take together….
C4 Talent is here to help if this is something you want to consider for yourself or your organization.
